Junik Oak OIS - "black poplar"

Junik is a small town in the southwest of Kosovo, at the foot of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.

Regarding the “Junik Oak” (Lisi i Junikut in Albanian):

• It is a centuries-old and monumental tree, considered a symbol of the city.

• The oak tree is located in the center of Junik, in the immediate vicinity of the urban core, near the main square and the kullat e Junikut (the famous traditional stone towers).

• It is a historic gathering place: locals would meet there to discuss important issues, a bit like a palaver tree.
